Course Overview

Lifesaving Skills for Adults, Children and Infants

The Level 3 Award in BLS, AED and Management of Anaphylaxis for Adults, Children and Infants (RQF) is designed for individuals who have a specific interest or responsibility at work, within voluntary organisations or community settings, to provide Basic Life Support (BLS), safely use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and manage a casualty experiencing anaphylaxis.

This regulated and nationally recognised qualification equips learners with the knowledge and practical skills needed to respond confidently to life-threatening emergencies involving adults, children and infants.

The qualification content and learning outcomes are based on the recommendations of the Resuscitation Council UK and guidance from a distinguished panel of experts in emergency medical care.

Successful learners will develop the practical competencies required to perform CPR, safely use an AED and provide emergency first aid for suspected anaphylaxis across all age groups.

Recovery Position

• Recognising when to place a casualty in the recovery position

• How to place:

  • An adult in the recovery position

  • A child in the recovery position

  • An infant in the recovery position

• Continually monitoring breathing while the casualty is in the recovery position

Anaphylaxis Management

• Recognising suspected anaphylaxis

• Administering first aid for a casualty experiencing suspected anaphylaxis

• Using an adrenaline auto-injector
