Looking to build a career in engineering? We’re offering an exciting opportunity for a Trainee Service Engineer to join our client's growing team. You will begin your training in their workshop in Wellington, learning how to build, refurbish, and repair recycling machinery. Once you have mastered the basics, you will progress to working alongside experienced Field Service Engineers out on customer sites across the UK.

What You will Do

  • Start by working in the workshop, Monday to Friday, on machinery builds, refurbishments, and repairs.

  • Learn hands on skills in mechanics, electrics, and hydraulics.

  • Progress to assisting on site visits, supporting installations, services, and callouts.

  • Gain confidence in customer service and on-the-job problem solving.

  • Work towards becoming a fully independent Field Service Engineer.

Areas You will Develop In:

  • Work on customers’ waste processing equipment for both emergency call-outs and planned preventative maintenance.

  • Maximise plant reliability through regular servicing and timely interventions.

  • Perform fault finding and problem solving on hydraulics, electrics, conveyors, motors, gearboxes, and various recycling equipment.

  • Install new machines at customer sites.

  • Support all stages of machine builds and refurbishments.

  • Maintain strong communication with customers to support current needs.

What We are Looking For

  • Mechanically minded, with some experience using basic hand tools.

  • A practical, hands-on approach: you enjoy fixing, building, or tinkering with things.

  • Interest in mechanics, electrics, or engineering (through study, work, or hobbies).

  • A positive, reliable, and motivated attitude.

  • Willingness to travel and stay away from home once you progress into the field.

  • Full UK driving licence (or working towards one).
