MRF Operative (Material Recovery Facility)

Job Type: Temporary - Full Time
Pay: From £12.85 Per Hour
Unit: Waste Operations / MRF
Location: Marsh Barton, Exeter

Working Hours & Pattern

• Hours: 37 hours per week

• Work Pattern: 5 days out of 7

• Standard Hours:

• Monday – Thursday: 07:00 – 15:30

• Friday: 07:00 – 15:00

• 8 ‘catch‑up’ Saturdays, following Bank Holidays

Purpose of the Role

We are looking for an MRF Operative to work at our client's Material Recovery Facility, helping to sort mixed recycling into separate materials.

Key Responsibilities

• Sort recyclable materials from conveyor belts into correct material streams.

• Remove contamination from recycling materials by hand when required.

• Follow all Health & Safety rules and site procedures at all times.

• Wear and look after issued PPE and uniform.

• Assist with cleaning machinery, bins, the depot, and outdoor areas.

• Carry out manual handling and lifting using correct techniques.

• Help with quality checks and sampling of materials.

• Work as part of a team with a positive and flexible attitude.

• Complete any other reasonable duties related to the role.

Person Specification

Essential:

• Experience working in an industrial or manual environment.

• Good awareness of Health & Safety.

• Ability to carry out physical work, including lifting.

• Basic literacy and numeracy skills.

• Able to communicate well and work as part of a team.

• Willing to wear PPE and follow site rules.

Desirable:

• Waste or recycling experience (training can be provided).

• Interest in environmental or public service work
