7.5T Food Waste Driver

  • Working Hours: Average 37 hours per week

  • Overtime: Catch-up Saturdays required following Bank Holidays, Christmas periods, or severe weather disruptions

Recruitment Unlimited are currently recruiting for a 7.5T Food Waste Driver on behalf of our client.

This role is based at Marsh Barton and involves driving a 7.5 tonne vehicle across residential areas within Exeter to collect food waste and other waste streams. This is a physically demanding position and is not solely a driving role, as drivers are also required to assist with loading duties.

The successful candidate will work within a team task and finish environment and must maintain high standards of health and safety for themselves, their crew, and members of the public at all times.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Drive and load waste collection vehicles on scheduled collection rounds

  • Undertake food waste collections across residential areas in Exeter

  • Assist loaders with the collection and emptying of bins and sacks

  • Ensure all collections are completed in accordance with Health & Safety procedures and the Drivers’ Handbook

  • Adhere to all Road Traffic and Tachograph regulations

  • Complete daily vehicle checks and accurately report any defects

  • Maintain vehicle cleanliness to required standards

  • Use in-cab communication technology to record completed work and report incidents such as blocked roads or missed bins

  • Oversee the crew and escalate any performance or disciplinary concerns appropriately

  • Work flexibly across 5 days out of 7, including required Saturdays

Essential Requirements

  • Full UK Driving Licence (maximum 6 points depending on offence)

  • LGV Class C Licence

  • Valid Driver CPC qualification (evidence required)

  • Digital Tachograph Card

  • Good numeracy and literacy skills

  • Ability to undertake physically demanding work

  • Strong awareness of Health & Safety procedures

  • Reliable and able to work effectively within a team

Desirable Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2 Waste Operations

  • HIAB Licence
