Learning & Development Manager (6-Month Contract)
Exeter area (Hybrid – minimum 2 days per week in office)
£24.75 per hour
Full-time Monday to Friday, 37 hours per week (9:00 –5:00)
6-month fixed-term contract

About the Role

We are looking to recruit an experienced Learning & Development Manager to join a large organisation on a 6-month contract. This is a key role responsible for establishing and embedding a fully functioning L&D framework, including training strategy, systems, governance, and delivery.

You will play a pivotal role in shaping learning culture, improving capability across the organisation, and ensuring staff development aligns with strategic priorities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a corporate training plan aligned to organisational goals

  • Establish L&D governance, processes, reporting, and evaluation frameworks

  • Conduct training needs analysis across teams and departments

  • Source, manage, and evaluate external training providers and contractors

  • Oversee creation and rollout of individual learning and development plans

  • Lead implementation and management of the Learning Management System (LMS)

  • Design and deliver engaging training content, including workshops and digital learning materials

  • Deliver in-person training sessions and facilitate learning programmes

  • Ensure compliance with accessibility, safeguarding, and data protection standards

  • Monitor training effectiveness and contribute to reporting and workforce analytics

About You

  • Proven experience in building or leading Learning & Development functions

  • Strong background in instructional design and delivering training sessions

  • Experience managing suppliers, budgets, and training contracts

  • Confident stakeholder manager with excellent communication skills

  • Experience with LMS implementation or administration (highly desirable)

  • Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong organisational and analytical skills

Requirements

  • CIPD Level 7 in Learning & Development, Organisational Development, or equivalent (preferred)

  • OR

  • significant relevant senior L&D experience in lieu of qualification

  • Must be able to work minimum 2 days per week onsite in Exeter area

  • Available for a 6-month contract

  • Able to start quickly or at short notice preferred
