Public & Green Space Team Leader - Exeter, Devon

Location: Exeter, Devon
Temporary | Full Time | 37 hrs/week
Salary: From £15.84 per hour
Work Days: Monday to Sunday (rotational, with flexibility required)
Shift Times: 07:00–15:00

We’re looking for a hands-on, proactive Public & Green Space Team Leader to support and supervise our Public and Green Space team across parks, streets, and open spaces. This role is ideal for someone who loves the outdoors, thrives in leadership, and enjoys making a visible impact in the community.

What You'll Be Doing As A Public & Green Space Team Leader:

• Coordinating teams and resources to deliver high-quality grounds maintenance and cleansing services

• Actively supporting and supervising staff across the city’s public spaces

• Inspecting Client-owned playground equipment and arranging for repairs or replacements

• Responding to service demands quickly and efficiently

• Engaging with local residents and businesses to promote civic pride

• Working flexibly—including some evenings and weekends—to meet community needs

What We're Looking For:

Must-Haves:

• Health & Safety awareness

• Strong leadership and field supervision experience

• Skilled in outdoor manual labour, equipment use, and team coordination

• Problem-solver with excellent communication and people skills

• Physically fit and happy to work outdoors in all conditions

• Driving licence

Nice-to-Haves:

• Qualifications in horticulture, grounds, or facilities maintenance

• Certificate in RPII Playground Inspections

• Experience in environmental enforcement

• Familiarity with mobile workforce technology

What the Role Involves:

This is a hands-on role. You’ll be outdoors daily—walking patrols, checking play areas, handling equipment, supporting staff, and solving issues as they arise. You’ll also play a key role in mentoring and helping your team grow, all while keeping Exeter’s green spaces safe and stunning.
