Events and Projects Officer - Tiverton, Devon

We are working in partnership with our client to look for a dynamic and creative Events and Projects Officer to lead the delivery of a wide range of public events and community initiatives. The successful applicant will be playing a pivotal role in planning, organising, and executing key civic and cultural as well as working on projects that bring together the community.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Plan, coordinate and deliver key annual events and civic functions.

  • Support community led festivals and other local initiatives.

  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with traders, stakeholders, volunteers and community groups.

  • Oversee use and development of company’s venues for events and public engagement.

  • Create and maintain an Events Calendar and blueprint documentation for repeat events.

  • Lead on all relevant event documentation, including Risk Assessments, Event Management Plans, and Road Closures.

  • Liaise with Safety Advisory Groups (SAG) and ensure full compliance with health and safety protocols.

  • Recruit and manage volunteers for community events and encourage participation from residents.

  • Monitor budgets and manage resources effectively.

  • Attend events, including those on weekends and evenings, to ensure smooth delivery and public safety.

  • Represent the company at committee meetings when required and provide reports on event/project progress.

Requirements:

  • Background in event and/or project planning and delivery

  • Experience working in or with local government/public sector

  • Budget monitoring experience

  • Events Management or Project Management qualification

  • Familiarity with the Purple Guide and Chapter 8 Traffic Management

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines and work under pressure

  • Confident communication and public speaking skills

  • Strong team collaboration and interpersonal skills

  • Competence in Microsoft Office and event planning tools

  • Understanding of event safety legislation and risk assessment

  • GCSEs or equivalent in Maths and English

  • Full UK driving licence

  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed

Additional Information

  • Employment Type: Permanent / Full Time

  • Working Hours: Monday to Friday 37 hours per week (includes occasional evenings and weekends)

  • Remuneration:£28,500 to £29,000 per annum
