Assistant Chef - Exeter, Devon
Job Type: Temporary, Part-time.

We are seeking a passionate and reliable Assistant Chef to join our clients care catering team within their Facilities and Environmental Services. This role plays a vital part in ensuring the nutritional needs of their residents are met to a high standard.
Working two days per week on a rota basis, including at least one weekend day, the successful candidate will prepare and assist in the delivery of meals in line with dietary requirements and individual care plans. Flexibility is essential, as the role also includes covering annual leave when required.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist with the preparation, cooking, and serving of meals within a care environment
Follow IDDSI guidelines for texture-modified diets
Maintain high standards of hygiene and cleanliness in the kitchen
Understand and manage severe food allergies with care and precision
Ensure meals are nutritious, varied, and meet individual dietary requirements
Work collaboratively with care staff to ensure a positive dining experience for all residents
Support stock control and kitchen records as needed
What We’re Looking For:
Essential:
Previous experience in a catering or care kitchen environment
IDDSI training or willingness to undertake training
Knowledge of food hygiene and safe food handling practices
Awareness of allergy management and cross-contamination prevention
Flexibility to work on a rota basis and cover absences
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Enhanced Transferrable DBS (must be in place before start date)
Desirable:
Level 2 Food Safety Certificate
Experience working with older adults or in a care setting
