We’re looking for a motivated Trainee Workshop Operative to join a busy and growing workshop in Willand. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a practical, hands-on background who is eager to build a long-term career in vehicle fabrication, repair, and maintenance.
You don’t need years of experience – just a strong work ethic, a willingness to learn, and confidence using hand tools. Full training will be provided to help you develop into a skilled workshop technician.
What You’ll Be Doing
Supporting the fabrication, repair, and maintenance of coaches and buses
Using hand tools and workshop equipment safely and effectively
Assisting with welding, cutting, grinding, and shaping metal components (training provided)
Helping fit and install vehicle parts such as frames, panels, seating, and windows
Carrying out basic mechanical and electrical support tasks under supervision
Keeping the workshop clean, safe, and well-organised at all times
Following all health & safety procedures and company standards
Completing simple job records and paperwork accurately
Working closely with experienced technicians to learn new skills and techniques
What We’re Looking For
Some hands-on experience using hand tools (essential)
Previous exposure to a workshop, manufacturing, construction, or engineering environment (desirable)
Basic understanding of mechanical or electrical principles (advantageous)
A genuine interest in learning fabrication, repair, and workshop skills
A practical, reliable, and hard-working attitude
Good attention to detail and pride in producing quality work
Ability to follow instructions and work well as part of a team
Positive attitude and strong willingness to develop and progress
