Looking for a hands-on role where no two days are the same?

Our Client is looking for a skilled and motivated Facilities Officer to help keep their buildings, grounds and facilities safe, operational and maintained to a high standard.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in building maintenance, facilities or a recognised trade who enjoys solving problems, working independently and making a real difference every day.

What you'll be doing

As a Facilities Officer, you'll be responsible for maintaining a busy estate, carrying out both planned and reactive maintenance to ensure everything runs smoothly.

Your day-to-day duties will include:

  • Carrying out general building maintenance and repairs.

  • Undertaking plumbing, carpentry, electrical and general maintenance work within your qualifications and experience.

  • Completing planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules.

  • Responding to maintenance requests and prioritising workloads effectively.

  • Performing Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) where qualified.

  • Monitoring contractors and ensuring work is completed safely and to a high standard.

  • Identifying and reporting health & safety concerns.

  • Supporting fire safety checks, alarm testing and emergency procedures.

  • Setting up meeting rooms and facilities for events.

  • Acting as a key holder and taking part in the out-of-hours emergency call-out rota.

  • Maintaining accurate maintenance records using computer systems.

  • Working across multiple sites when required.

What we're looking for

We're looking for someone who is practical, reliable and takes pride in delivering high-quality work.

Essential

  • City & Guilds (or equivalent) qualification in a recognised trade such as Plumbing, Carpentry, Electrical or General Building Maintenance.

  • Previous experience within facilities, maintenance or property services.

  • Strong understanding of Health & Safety practices.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.

  • Good IT skills.

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.

  • Full UK Driving Licence.

  • Flexible approach to work, including participation in the on-call rota.

Desirable

  • PAT Testing qualification or experience.

  • Experience supervising contractors.

  • Knowledge of fire safety systems.

  • Experience working with planned maintenance programmes.

  • Experience using facilities management software.
