Looking for a hands-on role where no two days are the same?
Our Client is looking for a skilled and motivated Facilities Officer to help keep their buildings, grounds and facilities safe, operational and maintained to a high standard.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in building maintenance, facilities or a recognised trade who enjoys solving problems, working independently and making a real difference every day.
What you'll be doing
As a Facilities Officer, you'll be responsible for maintaining a busy estate, carrying out both planned and reactive maintenance to ensure everything runs smoothly.
Your day-to-day duties will include:
Carrying out general building maintenance and repairs.
Undertaking plumbing, carpentry, electrical and general maintenance work within your qualifications and experience.
Completing planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules.
Responding to maintenance requests and prioritising workloads effectively.
Performing Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) where qualified.
Monitoring contractors and ensuring work is completed safely and to a high standard.
Identifying and reporting health & safety concerns.
Supporting fire safety checks, alarm testing and emergency procedures.
Setting up meeting rooms and facilities for events.
Acting as a key holder and taking part in the out-of-hours emergency call-out rota.
Maintaining accurate maintenance records using computer systems.
Working across multiple sites when required.
What we're looking for
We're looking for someone who is practical, reliable and takes pride in delivering high-quality work.
Essential
City & Guilds (or equivalent) qualification in a recognised trade such as Plumbing, Carpentry, Electrical or General Building Maintenance.
Previous experience within facilities, maintenance or property services.
Strong understanding of Health & Safety practices.
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
Good IT skills.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Full UK Driving Licence.
Flexible approach to work, including participation in the on-call rota.
Desirable
PAT Testing qualification or experience.
Experience supervising contractors.
Knowledge of fire safety systems.
Experience working with planned maintenance programmes.
Experience using facilities management software.
