Location: Exeter
Pay: £14.82 per hour
Contract: 5 Months
Hours: Full Time, Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 4:00pm
The Role
We are recruiting for a Commercial Waste & Recycling Officer to join our client's Environment & Waste team on a 5 month contract.
This is a varied role that combines customer service, administration, sales support and operational coordination. You will help grow commercial waste services by promoting them to local businesses, managing customer accounts, monitoring contracts and supporting initiatives that encourage recycling and sustainable waste management.

Key Responsibilities
Promote commercial waste and recycling services to businesses across the city.
Build and maintain strong relationships with commercial waste customers.
Manage commercial waste contracts, customer records and associated administration.
Process invoices, payments and financial records accurately.
Support waste and recycling campaigns that encourage sustainable practices.
Respond to customer enquiries and resolve issues by phone and email.
Liaise with operational teams to ensure effective service delivery.
Maintain accurate databases, records and performance information.
Assist with waste transfer documentation, stock control and commercial service administration.
About You
We're looking for someone who has:
GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
Excellent customer service experience.
Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
Good organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Confidence using Microsoft Office and other IT systems.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Experience processing invoices, handling payments or financial administration.
Knowledge of waste, recycling or environmental services.
Experience within local government or a similar public sector environment.
Experience promoting or selling services to business customers.
