Service & Breakdown Engineer - Tiverton, Devon

Role: Field-Based

Contract: Permanent, Full-Time

Salary: Up to £35,000 Per Annum (+ Paid Overtime Available)

We are looking for a reliable and technically skilled Biomass Service & Breakdown Engineer to join our client's team. This role involves servicing and maintaining biomass boiler systems across the UK. You’ll be responsible for diagnosing and resolving issues, supporting customers and colleagues, and ensuring boilers are operating efficiently and safely. This position requires a flexible approach to nationwide travel and overnight stays. You will play a vital role in ensuring high standards of service and support in a growing renewable energy sector.

Key Service & Breakdown Engineer Responsibilities

  • Service and maintain biomass boilers nationwide

  • Complete all relevant service paperwork accurately and promptly

  • Accurately assess parts and labour requirements for servicing, breakdowns, and repairs

  • Troubleshoot faults and attend breakdowns

  • Provide technical support to customers over the phone and on-site

  • Compile detailed breakdown reports and recommended actions (including parts lists)

  • Support the Technical Manager and Aftersales team

  • Train and supervise junior staff where applicable

  • Assist the installation team when required

  • Ensure compliance with health and safety processes and procedures

  • Maintain a high standard of documentation and service reports

  • Work away from home during the week when required

Requirements For The Service & Breakdown Engineer

Minimum Core Knowledge & Technical Skills:

  • Previous experience in a similar service or engineering role

  • Mechanical or electrical engineering background

  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

  • Good standard of written and spoken English

  • Full UK Driving License

Desirable Knowledge & Skills:

  • Welding experience
