Senior Structural Engineer – Structural Steelwork / Industrial Projects

Monday to Friday, Full-time, Permanent

£80,000 Per Year (Depending on Experience)

We are seeking an experience Senior Structural Engineer with strong expertise in the design and analysis of steel structures, including secondary steelwork for industrial projects, and steel-framed buildings. This role offers the opportunity to lead complex engineering projects, mentor technical staff, and contribute to a respected organisation delivering high-quality structural solutions.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and analysis of steel structures, including primary and secondary steel work, portal fames, platforms, walkways, ladders and handrails.

  • Produce structural calculations, design reports, 3D models, and material specifications.

  • Apply advanced knowledge of bolted and welded steel connection design.

  • Perform structural analysis under a variety of load conditions using recognised engineering software.

  • Collaborate closely with project managers, clients, fabricators and multidisciplinary engineering teams

  • Ensure all designs comply with Eurocodes, British Standards, and industry best practices.

  • Support tender and proposal activities, including estimating engineering hours and defining scopes.

  • Deliver clear technical reports and presentations for both internal and external stakeholders.

  • Promote continuous improvement in design efficiency, fabrication practicalities and installation approaches.

  • Keep up to date with emerging technologies, standards and sector developments.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in structural engineer with a strong emphasis on steel structure design.

  • Experience in secondary steelwork for industrial projects

  • Chartered Engineer status (or working towards chartership) is desired

  • Strong understanding of Eurocodes, BS Standards, and structural engineering principles.

  • Proficiency with structural analysis software such as Robot Structural Analysis and IDEA StatiCa.

  • Good knowledge of fabrication processes and practical design considerations

  • Ability to produce clear design models, calculations and reports.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

  • Excellent organisational ability and capable of managing multiple deadlines.

  • Competent with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
